Itinerary
Friday: Your package begins with an overnight hotel stay in Anchorage. Be sure to make time for a visit to the Anchorage Museum of History and Art or the Alaska Aviation Museum. Take an easy walk along the Cook Inlet on the Coastal Trail and check out the concerts at the Performing Arts Center. Fine dining options and nightlife are plentiful in Anchorage.
Saturday: Board the Aurora Winter Train and travel north past Mt McKinley to Fairbanks. Enjoy the serene winter landscape as you ride past birch and spruce forests. Keep your eyes open for wildlife and the dramatic northern lights. Overnight in Fairbanks.
Sunday: Discover Alaska's Arctic with Northern Alaska Tour Company; flightsee over the Yukon River Valley and the Arctic Circle to a point just south of the Gates of the Arctic National Park. You will be able to participate in a ceremonial Arctic Circle landing at the wilderness community of Coldfoot. Learn the fascinating story of the Brooks Mountain Range wilderness and see the trans-Alaska-pipeline. At the day's end, you'll return to Fairbanks for another night's stay.
Monday: Fly to Anchorage on Alaska Airlines If you have extra time, you can opt to spend an extra day exploring Fairbanks to visit the world-class Museum of the North or take a side trip to Chena Hot Springs Resort for a therapeutic soak in the natural springs and a tour of the world famous Aurora Ice Museum. At leisure, return to Anchorage by Era Alaska Airlines.
