Trips begin on

Monday / Thursday / Saturday

Los Mochis to El Fuerte
Upon arriving in Los Mochis, you will be transferred to the historic town of El Fuerte for a relaxing and quiet evening in this fantastic colonial town. (The transfer time is 1.5 hours and can be accommodated to any flight or bus arrival time.)

El Fuerte to Cerocahui
The adventure begins in earnest today when you board the "ChePe" first class train. Today you will traverse the most scenic segment of the railroad, climbing from sea level to an elevation of more than 6000 feet. Mountains and canyons stretch as far as the eye can see.

Upon arriving in Bahuichivo, you will be shuttled nearly 45 minutes to the most scenic mountain village in Northern Mexico - Cerocahui. You will transfer to the Mision Hotel, which is located in the heart of this historic hamlet for an amazing stay. After lunch, you will go on a 3.5 hour long Gallego Lookout tour which includes stops at the highest overlook readily available to tourists, a cave home, a rancho, and the Virgencita Spring.

Lunch and Dinner are included at your hotel.

Cerocahui to Divisadero
After breakfast, you will be transferred by van to Divisadero, the Crown Jewel of the region, which takes about two hours. The views from the rim of the canyon are breathtaking. The lodge is situated near the rim of the mighty Urique Canyon, providing wonderful views that extend for miles. Optional side trips available in the area include canyon tours, horseback riding, jeep tours, and helicopter rides. We recommend upgrading to the Posada Mirador Hotel which is situated on the rim of the canyon. The hotels in Divisadero all provide views which overlook the mighty Urique Canyon.

The views of the three Canyons that comprise Copper Canyon make Divisadero ("The Divide") an unforgettable stop on your trip across the mountains. This area is four times larger than the Grand Canyon and gives visitors many memorable vistas of this pristine mountain wilderness.

Breakfast and Dinner are included at your hotel.

Divisadero to Creel
Breakfast and Lunch are included and at about 2 pm our representative will pick you up at the front desk to transfer you by van to Creel, the shopping and excursion center of the region. After checking in to your hotel you are free to relax or do some exploring on your own. Creel is the shopping center and trading center for the region, offering everything from hand made musical instruments to pottery and jewelry. Creel is also the tourism center of the region, with optional trips to the famous Cusarare waterfall, Basihuare Canyon, the Mission, La Bufa Canyon, Recohuata Thermal Springs, and the highly recommended two-day extension to Batopilas - a thrilling journey to the bottom of the canyon.

Breakfast and Lunch at hotel.

Note: If you are interested in extending your already magnificent journey by traveling to canyon floor please click here for information about the Batopilas Extension.

Creel to Chihuahua
This morning you will go on a tour of Creel, including such sites as Mushroom Valley, the Mission, Tarahumaran Indian Caves, and Lake Arareko before continuing towards Cuauhtemoc, where we will enjoy a traditional light lunch. We will then stop at an interesting Mennonite Camp before continuing to Chihuahua for a late afternoon arrival.

Chihuahua
The tour comes to a close as you are transferred to the airport or bus station (Busses leave every hour) for your trip home. Be sure to inquire about transfer options to El Paso if you do not want to fly home from Chihuahua.
Dates & Prices
This trip can be booked for any day depending upon availability, That being said, holiday and peak season dates tend to book up well in advance, so we recommend making your reservations six months or more in advance, if possible.
