Arrive Los Mochis and transfer to El Fuerte
Upon arriving in Los Mochis, you will be transferred to the historic town of El Fuerte for a relaxing and quiet evening in this fantastic colonial town. (The transfer time is 1.5 hours and can be accommodated to any flight or bus arrival time.)
El Fuerte to Divisadero
Today you will depart El Fuerte at about 8:30 am and start the amazing journey from sea level to over 7000 feet through the Sierra Madre Mountains to Divisadero which is located on the canyon's rim. Spectacular rivers, canyons, mountains, and towering cliffs abound in all directions. Upon arriving in Divisadero, you will be transferred to your hotel for the evening. The hotels in Divisadero all provide views which overlook the mighty Urique Canyon.
The views of the three Canyons that comprise Copper Canyon make Divisadero ("The Divide") an unforgettable stop on your trip across the mountains. This area is four times larger than the Grand Canyon and gives visitors many memorable vistas of this pristine mountain wilderness. This line took 111 years to complete due to the financial hurdles caused in part by mountainous terrain and rugged canyons. By the time the railroad was completed in 1961, more than 200 trestles/bridges and 87 tunnels were built.
Dinner is included at your hotel.
Divisadero to Creel
Breakfast and Lunch are included at the hotel before departing for the city of Creel. After a free morning in Divisadero, you will transferred by van to the amazing mountain town of Creel, the shopping and excursion center of the Copper Canyon offering everything from handmade musical instruments to pottery and jewelry. After checking in to your hotel you are free to relax and do some exploring on your own. Creel is the jump off point for the highly recommended two-day extension to Batopilas - a thrilling journey to the bottom of the canyon.

Creel to Cerocahui
This morning you will go on a tour of Creel, including such sites as Mushroom Valley, the Mission, Tarahumaran Indian Caves, and Lake Arareko before reboarding the ChePe train, this time headed for Cerocahui. This is an extremely scenic train ride that will end at the Bahuichivo train depot. From there you will transfer about 45 minutes to the most beautiful mountain village in the state, Cerocahui.
Upon arrival in Cerocahui you will transfer to the Mision Hotel, located in the heart of town. With the rooms nestled amongst the vineyard and a sparkling little pool beckoning you for a dip, you will feel like you are in paradise.
Dinner is included at the hotel.
Cerocahui to El Fuerte
Following breakfast at the hotel, you have a fantastic morning tour to the Gallego Lookout which includes stops at the highest overlook readily available to tourists, a cave home, a rancho, and the Virgencita Spring.. Enjoy lunch at the hotel before you re-board the ChePe for the incredible remainder of the trip down the mountain. This portion of the trip is some of the most scenic, as you descend nearly 5300 feet through rugged mountains and deep canyons. Keep your camera handy - you will need it.
Upon arrival in El Fuerte, you will be transferred to your hotel for the evening in this fantastic colonial city. We highly recommend eating on the train as most of the El Fuerte area restaurants will be closed by the time you arrive.
