Trips begin on

Mondays

Mazatlan to El Fuerte
This morning you will be picked up from your hotel or from the airport and driven to the bus station, where you will board a comfortable First Class bus for the interesting five hour trip to Los Mochies. Upon arriving, you will then be picked up by our private driver and driven to the historic town of El Fuerte for a relaxing and quiet evening in this fantastic colonial town. The transfer time is approximately 90 minutes.

El Fuerte to Cerocahui
The adventure begins in earnest this morning as you board the "ChePe" first class train. Today you will traverse the most scenic segment of the railroad, climbing from sea level to an elevation of more than 6000 feet. Mountains and canyons stretch as far as the eye can see.

Upon arriving in Bahuichivo, you will be shuttled nearly 45 minutes to the most scenic mountain village in Northern Mexico - Cerocahui. You will transfer to the Mision Hotel, located in the heart of this historic hamlet, for an amazing stay.

Lunch and Dinner are included at you hotel.

Cerocahui
After breakfast, you can take a breathtaking bus tour of the region. After lunch, you are free to explore the area on your own or participate in one of the many exciting activities offered by the hotel at a modest fee. Our recommendation is ra good book and a dip in the sparkling pool at the hotel. And later, exploring the town on your own, which hasn't changed much since the 60's.

Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are included at your hotel.

Cerocahui to Divisadero
After breakfast, at the hotel, you have a fantastic morning tour of Cerocahui and the Gallego Lookout overlooking the canyon. After the tour you will depart by car for your two hour drive to Divisadero, providing wonderful views that extend for miles. Optional side trips available in the area include canyon tours, horseback riding, jeep tours and helicopter rides. .

The views of the three Canyons that comprise Copper Canyon make Divisadero ("The Divide") an unforgettable stop on your trip across the mountains. This area is four times larger than the Grand Canyon and gives visitors many memorable vistas of this pristine mountain wilderness.

Breakfast and Dinner are included at your hotels.

Divisadero to Creel
Breakfast and Lunch are included before you re-board the ChePe train for a short ninety minute trip to Creel, the shopping and excursion center of the Copper Canyon. After checking in to your hotel you are free to relax or do some exploring on your own. Creel is the shopping center and trading center for the region, offering everything from handmade musical instruments to pottery and jewelry. Creel is also the tourism center of the region, with optional trips to the famous Cusarare waterfall, Basihuare Canyon, the Mission, La Bufa Canyon, Recohuata Thermal Springs, and the highly recommended two-day extension to Batopilas - a thrilling journey to the bottom of the canyon.

Note: If you are interested in extending your already magnificent journey by traveling to canyon floor please click here for information about the Batopilas Extension.

Creel
This morning you will tour Arareko Lake, Mushroom Valley, the Mission, and Tarahumara cave dwellings. After your tour, your afternoon is free to explore the shops and museums of Creel.

Creel to Chihuahua
Enjoy a leisurely morning in this great mountain town before boarding the ChePe Regional Tourist Train for your trip to Chihuahua. Upon arriving in Chihuahua you will be transferred to your hotel for a night of relaxation and reflection.

Chihuahua
The tour comes to a close as you are transferred to the airport or bus station (Buses leave every hour) for your trip home. Be sure to inquire about transfer options to El Paso if you do not want to fly home from Chihuahua.
